The Utility Expo 2021
The Utility Expo 2021
FODS is attending the 2021 Utility Expo in Louisville, Kentucky!
Formally known as the ICUEE, The Utility Expo is the largest event in North America for electric transmission and distribution, telecom, vegetation management, wastewater, water, natural gas and construction professionals. The Utility Expo is a highly interactive event that gives industry professionals a chance to experience the latest in best management practices and innovative stormwater and construction technologies.
Power companies often face access challenges when it comes to moving equipment across wet, unstable substrate for maintenance of power lines and utilities. Companies are liable for damage to environmentally-sensitive areas, agricultural land and undeveloped tracts. FODS Reusable Rockless Trackout Control Entrances support heavy vehicles while stabilizing and protecting access points.

The FODS Advantage
Reusable & Cost Effective
The FODS Reusable Trackout Control Mats are a paradigm shift from traditional gravel construction entrances. The reusable system leads to ongoing cost savings on every project.
Benefits include:
- Anchors to any substrate.
- Meets NPDES requirements and helps increase compliance
- Replaces inadequate stabilized rock entrances and needs no refreshment
- Install and relocate in under 30 minutes with minimal labor
- Compact exit that configures to any exit detail
- Durable construction entrance that supports weight in excess of 80 tons
- Lightweight, quick to move, reinstall, and reuse during project phases
- A Smart ROI, low long term cost with a lifespan of ten plus years

Safe, Effective & Compliant
Consistent Performance
The FODS Trackout Control system is effective at reducing roadway debris, airborne dust, stormwater pollutants, and riprap waste. FODS mats contains rows of staggered pyramids that deform vehicle tires and allow sediment to break loose. Sediment is contained away from vehicles at the base of the pyramids.
FODS are effective at containing Trackout and can help contractors stay compliant with stormwater regulations and avoid hefty inspection fines. On a high traffic project in Harris County, FODS has been demonstrated to reduce street sweeping by up to 59%.
Because FODS Reusable Construction Entrance is more effective than rock entrances, a standard 1x5T configuration (35’ long) is commonly used to substitute for a 70’ rock entrance. See CDOT Spec.

10 Year Lifespan
Durable &
FODS Construction Entrance Mats are designed for heavy duty applications. The high density polyethylene mats are strong enough to hold haul trucks and loaders while also able to be traversed by passenger vehicles. With an embedded UV inhibitor, the system has an expected service life of 10+ years.
Unlike traditional one-time-use rock entrances, FODS Reusable Construction Entrance is designed for repeated applications. FODS will not become flattened under heavy loads or rain events and can be quickly refreshed by cleaning when sediment builds between the pyramids. The mats are fully reusable and contractors can eliminate the need for consumable materials such as aggregate and geotextile fabric on their construction entrances.
Contractors can complete all maintenance on-site without the need for additional materials which helps to keep the total operating costs to a minimum.

30 Minute Installation
Portable & Agile
On phased projects such as highway projects, pipeline jobs, and residential subdivisions FODS can be even more useful. Many highway projects require installation of tens or hundreds of construction entrances. A single set of mats can last for 10+ years and can substitute for 1,000 of tons of aggregate. As the portable mats are reused through each phase of the project, contractors are able to significantly reduce the costs associated with site preparation.
The FODS system can be anchored on any substrate and be installed and relocated in as little as 30 minutes. Each mat is 12’ wide x 7’ long and can be transported using a standard utility trailer or flatbed.
In most cases, there is no preparation needed before installation, and the mats can be installed without heavy equipment. Because there is no removal of sediment, or addition of foreign aggregate, remediation is minimal.
